Collaborations: What Does This New Feature Do + How To Use It

You may have noticed as you scroll through your feed that some posts have two handles at the top of them. Oftentimes, it’s a brand and a content creator.

This is one of Instagram’s latest tools, which is the collaboration tool. This feature allows brands and creators to (yep, you guessed it…) collaborate.

What is this new feature?

With brands constantly collaborating with influencers, it’s only natural that this co-creation phenomenon becomes ingrained into Instagram's functionalities.

This feature can be used for both Reels and static posts, which would essentially post a single piece of content on the feeds of both of the accounts that are collaborating.

Not only do they post on both accounts, but this post also then generates engagement that is apparent and important for both brands. According to a recent article by Later, this tool will allow co-creators to share views, likes, and comments – allowing you to leverage and engage with each other’s communities.

Pretty sick, ain’t it?!

Okay, so now that you know what this collaboration tool is all about, let me tell you how you can use this feature on your Instagram account.

How to use the Instagram collaboration feature

Once you have the content ready, simply upload it like you normally would.

Once you reach the “Share Screen”, tap on “Tag People”. From here, you will see on the right-hand side of your screen “Invite Collaborators”. After you click on that button, you can search for the brand or content creator you collaborated with.

This will send a request to your collaborator, which they will receive through their DMs.

When the other party receives the request, they can simply click on “Accept” and the content will appear on their social media profile too!

Now, if you don’t see this feature available on your Instagram account just yet, don’t panic. Instagram is slowly rolling this out and your time will come!

Have you tried this feature out yet? What do you think of it? DM me on Instagram to let me know @morningcoffeemarketing!
