Are TikTok Ads Right for Your Business?

Updated: Jul 27, 2021

The never-seen-before virality of TikTok is real. If you have a robust content strategy, you CAN blow up your business or personal brand’s account overnight!

With this social media platform having been adopted by MORE users than Snapchat and Twitter, it’s not unusual for you to be wondering what kind of revenue you can generate for your business by investing your cash into TikTok ads.

HOWEVER, before you make a huge investment and spend your hard-earned moolah on advertising space on this app, here are a few questions you should ask yourself…

Who is your target market?

Most of TikTok’s users are Gen-Z and Millennials. To be precise, 66% of users are under the age of 30. So, if your business’s target market is retired couples who have loads of disposable income to spend… this platform might not be the right fit for you.

But if you’re a clothing brand that caters to young professionals, then TikTok is swimming with prospects for your business.

Do you have the right budget?

If you didn't already know, TikTok ads require a minimum budget of $500 per campaign. With the CPM starting at $10, which is above Facebook Ads’s average CPM of $7.19, your budget might need to be a tad bit higher than the usual Facebook Ads budget you usually have to achieve the results you want.

The reason for this higher-than-average barrier to entry is due to the fact that the platform is still somewhat “new” and there isn't as much competition on this platform… yet. HOWEVER, the brands that are competing with you over somewhat the same audience are pretty huge, such as Nike, Apple, Maybelline, and Netflix.

Do you have the resources to produce the video content?

TikTok is a video-based platform. While you don’t need fancy camera equipment to create great video content, you do need a minimum of resources to be able to produce quality content that will engage with your audience and get them to CLICK on your ad. From the right script to the right content, and the right caption to entice users to act upon, your advertising strategy is as important on TikTok as it would be on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Linkedin.

Once you answer all of the questions that I discussed with you above, then you can decide whether or not TikTok ads are right for you.
