4 Simple Hacks for Upping Your Instagram Engagement

Updated: Nov 30, 2021

The key to being successful on Instagram nowadays is to have a healthy level of engagement. While this is true for the algorithm, it also is true in terms of the relationship you are building with your audience. The more engaged they are, the more likely they are to trust you and your brand.

While having a robust content marketing strategy is the foundation to generating high engagement rates for your social media content, there are many other ways to go about boosting your engagement rate.

Here are a few of the ways you can do that:

Use stickers on your stories.

Most people scroll through their feeds and stories quite passively. A great way to get their attention is to use stickers that Instagram makes available to you!

These include polls, quizzes, links, answer boxes, meters, and so much more. Whatever you’re sharing on your stories, adding these stickers (so long as they're relevant) is a great way to get people to engage with your brand. I do it all the time on my own Instagram, and I'm always pleased with the amount of engagement these stickers get.

Show your face when you can.

Believe it or not, brands that show faces and talk to the camera on their stories tend to receive way more engagement than those who post only graphics (about 74% more engagement per post, in fact!). So next time you may want to announce something with just a graphic, try picking up your phone instead and tell your audience the news yourself. You will see the difference this makes!

Use a call-to-action (CTA).

If you want your audience to DO something, you have to TELL them. Don’t be shy to give them directions and tell them what you want them to do. Whether you want your audience to share a post, save a post, subscribe to your email list, or even shop your products... Tell them.

And yes, this applies to both your stories and your posts!

Do some manual engagement.

Block out a few minutes per day in your calendar to manually engage with different accounts on Instagram. Whether you find these accounts through hashtags, locations, or keywords that you search for, the important thing is that you engage with people who are in your target market.

While there are many other ways you can go about increasing your engagement, these are the basic ones you can start applying immediately. Need help incorporating any of these tactics into your social media strategy? Shoot me an email at sandra@morningcoffee.biz and I'll be glad to help you out.
