With 2022 being just around the corner, it couldn’t be a better time to discuss the marketing trends we're expecting to see!
While there are plenty of tangible features that I know are going to be introduced into the social media space, I want this trend report to focus on trends I have observed during the past year and which I believe will only grow in the new year.
Let’s get to it...
TikTok will dominate the social media world.
As people’s attention span only gets shorter by the day, Tik Tok is the entertainment app of choice for many and is here to stay. It may have exploded in March 2020, but I can promise you that users and content creators will not stop using this app once we slowly get back to what we consider as our “normal” lives.
The Tik Tok algorithm makes it easier (I repeat: easIER, not easy) to go viral and acquire followers for your brand or personal brand. If you’re not already on Tik Tok, I recommend you get on it. Just start!
Oh, and if you're not convinced yet... In 2021, TikTok received more traffic than Google.
Video will take over Linkedin.
Long gone are the days where Linkedin preferred long-copy content. Nowadays, if you want to stand out from people’s thousands of connections, you MUST incorporate video. This doesn’t mean that ALL of your content should be in video form, but you should reconsider your Linkedin strategy for 2022 if you didn’t incorporate video content in it.
Reel content is critical to your success on Instagram.
Listen, Zuckerberg and Mosseri KNOW what’s up. They know that most of Instagram’s users are making their way towards TikTok and, depending on the day, may even be spending more time on Tik Tok than on Instagram. That being said, here’s a feature you MUST integrate into your social media strategy for 2022: Reels!
Reels, which I’m sure you’ve already noticed, are pretty much Instagram’s version of Tik Tok within their app. Given that they want to compete with Tik Tok, Instagram will be prioritizing Reels. Plus, they will reward those who use Reels with growth (and they've been testing monetization programs for further incentives).
And in case this might intimidate you, don’t worry! You don’t need to dance or point at things. You can make Reels work for YOU!
Personal brands will continue to explode.
Guess who can sell your business better than you? NO ONE! That’s why building a personal brand is important for the new year. Not only are consumers becoming more likely to trust businesses with which they can associate a face or person, but your brand is also the easiest way to make authentic connections between your brand and your target audience.

Authenticity will win over the corporate vibe.
Lastly, you can forget perfection. The more authentic you are, the more your audience can relate to you and your brand. So don’t be afraid to be yourself and show your audience the behind-of-scenes of your business! Stumbling over your words? Relatable. Speaking without a script? Relatable. Kids running amuck in the background? RELATABLE. Relatability is the buzzword here!
